The State of Pennsylvania requires that all teachers possess a valid Level I or Level II Instructional certificate. Teachers with a Level I certificate must work towards obtaining their Level II Instructional certificate by:
  • Attaining 24 post-baccalaureate credits (6 of the 24 credits must be from courses associated with improving professional practice or in an area that you hold certification in);
  • Completing 3 years of satisfactory service on the Pennsylvania Level I certificate and;
  • Completion of a Pennsylvania Department of Education approved induction program.
Application for the Level II certificate is completed on-line via the TIMS system on the Pennsylvania Department of Education's website: www.education.state.pa.us.
